Bridging Chinese Green Economy with Silicon Valley Technologies
Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nanobionic (SINANO) is a recently established national institute of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), located in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), in a city of Suzhou with beautiful scenery and rich culture. SINANO focuses on developing nanotechnology and nano-bionics, adopts cutting-edge interdisciplinary nature of nanotechnology, encourages innovation and healthy competition, and emphasize teamwork. SINANO’s Silicon Valley Office is a platform serving the following objectives:
1. For leading researchers as an easy channel to learn the technology development environment in Chinese Academy of Science such as SINANO.
2. For technology entrepreneurs a channel to learn how to integrate their technolgies to help technology commercialization in Chinese, particularly on nanotechnology, bionics technology, energy technology and automotive electronics technology, etc.
3. For US companies a channel to identify where to find right Chinese partners in commercializing their technologies, and for Chinese companies a channel to identify right technologies, patents and teams.
The Office is headed by Dr. Sean X. Yan, who has many years of experience in Silicon Valley high-tech R & D and consulting. Dr. Yan joined SINANO in late 2006 responsible to establish a sustainable technology commercialization program via innovation and alliance, thus to help elevate local economy. Within three-years, SINANO’s commercialization platform now has five funded technology startup companies.
